Preschool Program

The Rainbow School offers a three-hour (9:00 am to 12:00 pm) "Preschool Only A" program to children who turn age 4 by August 31. This is a Kindergarten preparatory program held Monday through Friday only.  We also have a "Preschool Only B" program to children who turn age 3 by August 31. This program is held Monday through Friday only. Children must be toilet trained to participate in these programs.

Our "Preschool Only" programs are on hiatis at this time.  We will post once we restart them.  Our "Preschool Only" programs follow the Issaquah School District calendar. This means whenever the School District classes are delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather, ours will be too. It also means that we will observe the same holdiays, conference days, and vacation schedule.

Curriculum

The Rainbow School "Preschool Only A" program is designed to help students meet and/or exceed the Issaquah School District's student learning objectives for entering kindergarteners.  One of our key goals is to help children become enthusiastic learners.

Our program is designed to foster independence, self-confidence, and natural curiosity. We encourage children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their own ideas and think their own thoughts. Our program allows children to learn at their own pace and in ways best suited for the individual.

The Rainbow School practices a theme in which learning objectives are achieved through the use of specific themes. Within this context we have activities that teach:

  • Reading and language arts
  • Science and health
  • Mathematics
  • Social studies
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical education
  • Basic computer skills

No matter what age your child is, our program and curriculum will be presented in an age-appropriate manner. We follow "developmentally appropriate practice" guidelines as set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
